This teacher's only session will focus more on explicit instruction for academic vocabulary with discussion on cross-curricular subject integration. We will reflect on coaching moves that improve conditions for effective teaching such as:

Listening and allowing teachers to share their thoughts, ideas, and perspective during a coaching discussion
Making the teacher aware of and clearly defining a specific concern or opportunity for coaching
Clarifying or defining standards or expectations during coaching discussions
Helping teachers "step back" and examine their actions, attitudes, skills, or decisions from a different point of view
Helping teachers understand how their actions contribute to or detract from the overall success of their students
Giving the teacher the opportunity to develop or share ideas for action plans rather than rigidly controlling the solution
Clearly asking for commitment to the action plan and agreements made during a coaching discussion
Helping teachers see the payoffs and benefits of a solution or new approach
Following up to provide support and reinforcement and ensure accountability for the progress being made on plans and agreements
